Cost of media blasting?

What does media blasting run?

When they are finished, is anything at all sprayed on the metal as a sealant?

$1,500 for a whole car in California, the place I spoke to said they don't spray anything on to protect the car from rusting, and usually the car is ok unless there were some rusty places, those tend to come back sooner, some body shops tell you not to get the car media blasted as it may warp the metal, you can have the frame blasted though, you can also use air craft stripper as an alternative, your car can sit for months after that and it won't rust

Here in Oklahoma it is $500 It is the Only way to go.

I would not try striping it by hand. Takes to long and does not get the whole near this clean.

I take it to my body shop to have Self etching primer sprayed on it.

500's not bad, is that you doing it, or do you sub that out, how much for the primer in your shop?

You always have the quick, full answer, thanks!

I sub the Blasting Out. The Primer job cost $300 at the body shop I use.

I'm just trying to help anyone that needs it. I have been doing it so long,
I've learned the hard way. There is not reason For anyone else to go through it if I can help it.

Certain abrasives are said to warp the metal, others not. Soda is said to be great as a blasting agent, but leaves a thin film of soda on the metal and is in every nook and cranny and must be washed off before you can paint.

A comment about soda blasting

Soda blasting is nice if you've got a clean rust free body. It's pretty mild, and can probably strip the paint off a soda can while leaving the drawing marks on the aluminum. It is not a good choice if you've got anthing more than light surface rust, it's just not aggressive enough.

The place I use uses media to blast with, it is a plastic pellet.
It works like soda but actually removes more rust than soda with out the soda mess.
Will not warp the metal.

Yes, Only $500

Obviously you bring them the disassembled car, but does that price include the fenders, doors and hood?
