Hello,

New to the forum. Just bought a 72 fastback and was wonedring if anyone knew if this car could have come with a 429? I have 2 429's, one is a C8VE and the other D0VE. No motor or trani in it now. I was told it had a 302.

Those cars have a huge nose man. It'll fit just get the right motor mounts.

IT will fit I have done it, I have a 429/460 in my 71. 71 is the year that had the 429, but the car I have was a plain 351C 2bbl but twhen we bought it, it came with 2 big blocks as well.

We used the rebuilt block, but it was a 460 block, but we were unsure of the crank, so I just say its a 460, because that it the only clue I have is 460 stamped into the block.

Yes you will need to have new motor mounts welded in.

I was able to get mine in with full competition hooker headers ( long tube)

Need pictures if it will help give you an idea, let me know. I have a picture of the motor on my myspace page, along with pictures of other stuff. www.myspace.com/davelaporta

1971 was the last year ever for the factory big block mustang so your car couldnt not have come with one but like DAVE said one will fit in I have seen it done too.
