Dash Removal

My name is Steve and I have a white 65 coupe that will soon have a 88GT 5.0 and 5 Speed swapped into it. It is completely stripped. I am thinking of doing a custom dash and wanted to know how the original dash is mounted in there. I glanced at it and it appears to have a couple tabs welded and a bolt or two.

Has anyone removed their dash before that would be willing to share on the removal procedure it would sure help me out a lot as it make me a little nervous to just cut it out as opposed to unbolting.

thanks for the help and thoughts about tackling this.

P.S. When I say dash I mean the metal framing under the actual dash sorry for the confusion.

Welcome to MM Forums....

The dash is welded in place.

It would be a good idea to remove the windshield to be able to cut it close to it.

The sides are easier to remove.

Please post photos of the the transformation...

decided against the custom dash in the stang.

I have plans of taking the rear out of the 88 donor car and put it in my civic after tubing it, LOL and try making a custom dash in that. So if it does not come out looking that good it wont be a big deal

but that is a long way down the road gotta get the Mustang running first
