DIY Floorpan replacement Step by Step!

This is my floor pan replacement on my 65 coupe. When I started doing this I found some instructions but they were not very detailed and I made some mistakes, so I took what I learned on the driver side and applied that to the passenger side which turned out 100% better.
So I hope this helps anyone else looking to do this and good luck to anyone else who does this on their car.

Items needed

Rusty floor pans that need replaced
new floor pans
cut off wheel
grinder
welder (I used a MIG)
welding gloves
welding hood
hammer
screws
drill
drill bits
primer
wire wheel
Safety Glasses
time

The most important A wife to do some welding

The reason why we are even here the rusty floor pan must be replaced if not now it will only be a matter of time.

Make life easier on yourself by getting the vacuum and clean up all the loose material. Use a shop vac so the wife doesnt get mad cause you used her Dyson. lol

After initial cleanup there will be sealant/sound suppression material

This must all be removed to make welding easier.

After you get that cleaned up you will find spot welds located on seat riser they must all be drilled out

After they are drilled out you can then pry the riser out.
And find the hidden treasures left behind

Get that mess cleaned up again you will be glad that you did.

No you can fit the new floor pan in to find out where to cut.
I traced around it with soap stone.

Here you can see the outline of the new floor pan you cut about 2 inches inside the line.

But don't start cutting just yet.
Crawl under there are more spot welds waiting for you on the frame rails drill them out as well

After you drill them out use the holes as guidelines for cutting it out (DO NOT CUT THROUGH THE FRAME RAIL) or you will be replacing it to.

Now start pealing up the part over the frame rail it will need to be removed.

Finish getting the rest of the rust out of there.

Be careful the frame rails are connected.
I think Fred Flin-stone would be proud to drive the coupe

Fit the floor pan in.

Fasten it with self tapping screws or clecos if you have them. (I messed this step up on the driver side and had to weld some huge gaps) well the wife welded them lol.

Weld around in spots so you do not warp the metal bounce around.

Eventually you will be welded all the way around.

After getting welded you can remove the screws that you were careful not to weld in (happened on the driver side to)

Weld in the holes (no pic for that one sorry)

Then grind down the welds how much is up to you.

Weld the frame rail to the bottom of the floor pan.
(pic from the top side where frame rail runs)

Thumbs down

After getting it ground down coat the whole pan in primer 3-4 coats
You dot want to repeat this trust me.

Place the seat riser in get it lined up where you want it.

It will have gaps bang them as close to the body as possible to make welding easier

Clean up around the riser to prep for welding (no pic sorry)

just like before bounce around on the welding so you do not warp the metal.
Till you have finished welding

Like before grind the welds

Finally throw down a few coats of primer so you will not have to repeat the process.

I hope this helps someone out and I clearly explained the steps.
