Classic car registration question

Right now I am working on building a 1970 coupe with the front end and entire drivetrain from a thunderbird turbocoupe. When the car is complete I will be registered and titled as a 1970 mustang. Easy stuff.

The tough one is my new 2011 Convertible. The plan is to cut off the top half of the car and drop the body of a 69 convert while somehow keeping the 2011s top.

My question is, will i be able to register this is a 1969 mustang? What does it take or what will i need to do to call it a 1969 and not a 2011. The dash and and wheel will remain 2011, just a 1969 frame.

Here in Nevada you could register it as whatever the vin number matches. Since it is gonna look more like a '69 then I'd bet you could get away with registering it as a '69.

My brother and I were talking and laughing about how that song could just about be about a friend of ours old project car.

Depending on your state I think. In AZ they go by VIN, if there isn't one (i.e. Rat Rod or something) then they register it as a 2011 Custom Build Vehicle.

They pick on me at the local Orielly's. I have a 1965 Mustang chassis with a 1977 Granada brakes/suspension and a 1979 F-150 motor.
