1965 Mustang rust repair

We are in the middle of restoring this 6 cylinder 1965 Mustang coupe for a customer. For some reason when she saw this 65 Mustang she fell in love with it and wanted to save it.

This is what we started with and it doesn't look to bad until we strip it

Follow along as we bring this Mustang back to life.

Before my son Brian removed the roof skin he cut off the drip rails since they had rust and also the windshield post and door jamb needed to be repaired.

The first thing he did was cut it off with a cutoff wheel.

Next step is to grind the spot welds and remove that piece from the windshield post.

Looks like FUN! I've been there when restoring a 66 Mustang. My advice, scrap that and get a new one with less rust. Replacing all that rust isn't much fun.

Brian started working on the left sail panel.

This is what he started with

He removed the rusted out section

Cleaned it with a wire wheel

Brushed a thick coat of SPI epoxy
