Suggestions for modding my 64.5 Stang
Aloha!
I LOVE the look of the classic Stang but the sound of the newer stangs and I was wondering what people thought would be a good modern Stang engine I could drop in my 64.5 stang. I also would need a newer, tighter suspension to throw on there with the engine for better performance. Any thoughts or suggestions? Also, want it to be a manual, but my current stang is an automatic, so i was hoping to change out the tranny as well, that shouldn't be a limiter on my engine choice I think as I can modify the undercarriage to the new tranny. Hopefully someone's got some great ideas out there. This is the first place I've looked, so any insight or pointers, suggestions, or links would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo! John Ellis |

Budget?
A TCI front end will give you the suspension you are looking for, and eliminate the shock towers, making room for a variety of engine choices, including the new 5.0 coyote. Talk to MustangOne about a TCI setup. |

Welcome to MM Forums...
This question is asked all the time. This is the set up I am using in my new 1969 Fastback trans-am styled road racer I install this in everything I restore now. For me there is only one way to go here. It is not as hard as you would think. But the change to the old Mustangs ride and handling is so dramatic you will think you are driving a new Stang! With all the stuff is comes with is a savings over just buying rack & pinion, Disc brakes, front suspension, & Coil over shocks. ![]() The kit comes with: -Frame reinforcing plates - Steel inner fender panels -Jig welded crossmember -Upper a-arm and shock mounting tower -Urethane bushed upper and lower tubular a-arms -Kick ass Urethane bushed Motor mounts for a 289,302,351 or 4.6 & 5.4 Mod motor -Total Cost Involved Custom IFS dropped spindles - Bolt-on steering arms for correct turning radius and ackerman -Standard Power rack & pinion -TCI All American coilover shocks with adjustable spring tension and black powder coated springs -Eleven inch vented smooth rotors -Detailed instuctions showing how to remove old suspension and install the new TCI unit Here is a few I have done ... All TCI front ends We are a dealer also, We Love TCI !!! These all have 17" wheel and clear just fine. They have adjustable coil overs so you can set the hight you like. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just look at all the room it gives you.... ![]() ![]()
