1968 GT500 5.0 Coyote

Hey Guys, I thought I share something old and a little new.
A year ago we started a project on a 2001 Bullitt with a Coyote swap and that turn another customer into building 68 GT500 into a beast.

Here are some pics of us installing the 5.0 and T56

The stock Set would not allow up to put the 5.0 low in the engine bay. So used the Plasma Cutter..lol

Well the engine still would not clear so we here we go again with the Plasma Cutter

Trans Mount T56

all installed

Well, at least you didnt have to modify the crossmemeber or the oil pan with the rod and customz front end. Nice work though! Any other updates on the project?

Why did you not use the 5.0 Coyote crossmember that is made specifically for tha application?...You could have escaped the modification of the small block cross-member and Coyote pan...For $200 R&C would have provided the correct x-member center section (they did it for me) for that engine in that car with no mods to be done whatsoever. Rack is still in correct location.

What repercussions did the forward moving of the rack present? As far as geometry goes I can just about imagine. Was wondering what other problems you encountered?

After extensive research on what was available for the Coyote swap I found the suspension package that would allow it to be accomplished with no mods to be done to the kit whatsoever..After calling R&C they explained the physical differences between the Mod motors and the earlier ''steel'' motors and gave me EXACTLY what was needed, and it worked PERFECTLY!...Seems you took a longer road and it is looking good, I just hope it works at optimim as it was designed.

Please keep us posted.

Just curious, was there any baffles in that oil pan when it was cut open? Also, are you using a T-56 or T-56 Magnum? Thanks

Very good questions!

The car came to us with this crossmember installed. It seem to us they installed the crossmember to far back and that causing a lot of issues with the trans hitting the tunel. We did not want to cut into the fire wall or the tunel. By moving the frame forward corrected the position of the steering rack. Our other goal was to set the block as low as it could go in the engine bay.

No baffles in that part of the pan. I wanted to use the Moroso Pan but afraid it wouldn't fit. 2hrs later I had new pan! It's amazing what you can do with a Plasma Cutter & a tig.

We are using a T-56 magnum with Mcleod hydrolic clutch

Cool, looks like that old crossmember was originally for a windsor block. How does that Magnum fit? Good driveline angle or any cutting? Thanks

Driveline was our first goal with this project. Driveline came out perfect once we mod the cross member.

So are you running power steering and AC? What power steering setup are you using? Is it a reverse rotation unit? Looks like you had to run a remote oil filter setup. I guess it hits the frame off the engine?? Looks great.

OK, still really cool. Is your PS pump a reverse rotation unit, or have you figured out a different mounting solution? The only other kit I have seen is the SHM one and it is reverse rotation. Home | Sean Hyland Motorsports

Thanks for all your responses.

Hydro Clutch ??

Would you mind sharing your hydraulic clutch setup? Do you have pics of the setup and what parts did you use to set it up ? Thanks for you help. I am doing a 4.6 svt in my 67 and want to run the hydraulic clutch with the t-56 out back. Thanks for your help in advance/

Joe
