5.0 Install oil pan Question

5.0 Install oil pan Question


When putting in an 88 302 FI I know you have to change out the oil pan and pickup.

What I can not remember is it a front or rear pickup that it changes to.

I don't like the sound of that.

The pan that is on there now the back half is what hits the linkage.

Really though it would be the front.


Still have some time before I need it though.

Guess Ill get back to the research.

You need a front sump / front pickup. You can get both off of summit for under $60 and have them in two days.

Yes you definetly need a front sump pan.

I did a similar swap on my 65 coupe. Used a front sump and works fine. The main trick was relocating the dip stick hole to the timing cover on the passenger side. Worked out great.
