Sputtering issues

Hey everyone,
I'm scratching my head here, wondering if anyone can shine a light. I have a 66 mustang with a 289. I'm running an edelbrock performer intake manifold and performer 600cfm carb. Stock cyl. heads and stock cam. My car idles fine but when it gets up to maybe about 1500-2000 or so RPM it starts sputtering and running like crap. I'm getting plenty of fuel and I have a pretty new coil, spark plugs, wires, electronic ignition, so I'm not sure what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A) Check timing
B) Check for vacuum leaks

Try unplugging the vacuum line to the distributor and see it it does it then. be sure to plug the line so you will not have a vacuum leak.

If that does not work, Then it sound like poor flowing fuel system. change the fuel filter. If that helps, you might need to look at the fuel tank to see if it need to be replaced.

Replaced the fuel filter and its still going on... Oh well, I'll keep trying stuff. Thanks for the input though. If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them

So, How do the spark plugs look? Pull a few to see. They should all look about the same.
Light to medium TAN color is what you want.
