Shock tower notching

When notching shock towers for a BB has anyone run into problems with the fact that you're also cutting away the heavy support brace that is there also?

Thanks

That support brace really isn't all that heavy to begin with. How far are you planning on notching the towers? As long as you use thick plate steel to replace what you cut out and have an experienced welder weld it in place, you will be good to go.

Still looking for the "Definitive" answer, many notchers have cut 2" - 2 1/2" in towards the spring.

You have to support what you remove.

what are you trying to do? witch BB and what year of Mustang.

Me I do it differently than what you are thinking of doing.

What are you going to do to hold your frame rails together?

Are you adding the torque box on the Passenger side?

What sub frame conectors are you using?

Are you going to use slicks?

Notching the shock towers will make the motor fit, Im just wondering how you are going keep the rest of the body together.

The 460 has a lot of torque. Torque is what takes the front & rear frames out.
