dash trim panels hardware

hey, i was wondering if any of you have had any experience with he trim panel replacements. i have a 68 coup. and replacing the vents with blanks..well, 2 of them, i cant find a blank that covers the controls side...i got the right lower and center blanks from mustang depot. but they dont come with any hardware. the old ones are metal and have a threaded stud on the back side that you put through a hole in the dash, then its held on with a tinnerman type of nut. the rplacement doesnt have the stud. it just a hollow stem. its just plastic so im afraid of trying to thread in a screw. i have pix if im not explaining it very well. any ideas?

cant figure out how to shrink pictures in order to post em. talked to mustang depot but im not sure if he knew what i was talking bout. the only thing he showed me was a type of flange nut or tinnerman nut wich was way to small to go over the plastic post. even if it is a flange nut i need, it seems pretty cheap to hold down the trim panel which doesnt exactly form to the dash so itd be under a little pressure being held down. im going to continue to look around n see if i can figure something out. someone out there has got to of run into this.

How to post photos in your thread

That is the bad thing about buying parts from people that drive Ricers

and can only tell you what the computer tells them, and has never install any of the parts that they are selling.

I know I have what you are looking for I just need to see witch one you are talking about.

thanx 4 the reply. i found em on cjpony. i thought hey were referred to as "tinnerman nuts" but most ppl ive talked 2 refer 2 them as "stamped steel nuts" havnt got em yet. itll b nice 2 get the panels back in. speaking of which, have any of you had issues with aftermarket dashes? the one ive got is obviously aftermarket. but around where all the trim pieces n gauge panels go, it seems to not form very well to the actual dash. theres gaps around all the panels. n the screws are holding on 4 dear life. i didnt know if this is normal 4 aftermarket dash covers. or mabey it wasnt fitted right or what. whats the process? is it stretched over the dash frame? is it heat shrank? everywhere else it looks good but around the panels. theres places i can almost put my pinky in the gap. is there trimming involved on the inside of the pad b4 screwing down? im wondering if i should pull it off n try to redo it.

Can you see what is holding it out from the dash? Sometimes I can trim to fit.
