Wiring Harness?

We need to rewire this car! We have the old style fuses and will need to update. What is the best kit out there? We want the connectors to be on the kit when we purchase it. Some kits make you add the connectors like painless etc... We are not the worlds best electricians so we need to keep it straight forward PLUG an PLAY for the KISS thoery (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID)

Use a 1966 Mustang Factory wiring very easy to install and cost only around $700.

All the after market wiring is a pain in the ass.

Why the 66 the car is a 65? They are a similar car build but is there a reason for the 66 and where is the best source for this set up factory style harness?

The 1966 is the same but have the 5 gauge dash panel.

Anyone can sell it to you like NPD or CJ Pony. Or we could here at our shop.

Ok... Thanks we will be looking into this as we proceed with our Harness purchase. Is the installation pretty straight forward for the novice? My dad has rebuilt Cat Dozer's but electrical isn't our favorite. Is the labeling of the harness and the routing explained in the directions as well? Thanks for your help!

yes it is very easy, it all just plugs together just like the real one does.

Just remember you will need all 66 items.

You will need to get a 5 gauge insterment panel with gauges from ebay also.

If you give us a call we can make sure you get everything you need.

I Really would not use that kit. It is crap....

I have removed 2 of those kits this year already.

I would stay with the good factory kit. it is easy and plugs right into everything.

I haven't found the complete Harness at CJ or on NPD nor the Mustang one web sight catalog? I want to see the factory kit. It looks like theMustang Depot one supports the factory style? I believe that some aren't always what they seem and we don't want to make a mistake buying the wrong one. Does the "Factory Style" Have the modern fuse panal? We will be buying one some time this summer I believe.

Here is what you need. It all adds up to $677.00 and if you notice it is just like what ford made. and has place for everything that you would like to run.

extra dash lighting
modern radio
extra power for swith and 12V all the time.

And with this kit you have make no new holes and will plug into everything and installs in 3 hours.

And anyone will be able to work on it with a ford wiring diagram

Underdash wiring 445.00

Headlight side 94.00

Alt feed wiring 24.00

Tail light wiring 80.00

Engine gauge feed 34.00

Here is one of those modern wiring systems. This one was the American Autowire one. Pure crap...

Notice that the modern fuse blocks were to mount it. This one the customer could not mount his accel pedal..

My guess is....Mustang One...he is a vendor. Been to his shop a few times, very nice guy and knows his Mustangs. I found a guy who restores the factory harness for less than $200, but there are no upgrades to it, so I will be getting Mustang One's kit.

Glad you started this thread, now I know where to get my kit once it gets back from the blasters.

Todd, does that headlight harness have relays and work with the new light kits? Which headlights (kit) do you like? Also do you have a kit for single plug instrument cluster? Looking for 6 gauge, something besides JME.

Good luck TCStang with your build.

I've ordered from Mustang one several times always very helpful. I will be ordering a new fuel tank with sending unit on pay day as well. When I ordered my window regulators they hooked me up with a local guy around here to install them which save me a ton of time.

Hey I'm glad to see that others have jumped into this thread. I was concerned being a rookie here that I was being guided to a purchase. I am searching for trustworthy relationships when it comes to buying from vendors it is good to know others relying on Mustangone have had great success. Sorry for doubting them but I find I need to verify things before I get a bill of goods and no service after the sale. I too will look at giving them a crack at my wiring and the T5 conversion parts. Good to know there are good guys out there! What about converting perches that have already been purchased to roller perches with a kit from Daze Cars? Anybody?

Those are our prices,

The head light switch has a built in relay that can handle the halogen light. Just need a good new one.

Never used Daze, so maybe others will chime in. From all that I have read, he is a good guy. Pretty much does this as one of his passions and to help people out. Prices are good and so are his DIY articles.

I cheated and bought mine already "rollered".

Stick with the factory style. Not only are they easier to use, but they preserve the proper look on the vehicle when installed.

I just had a new customer come by the shop,

He bought one of those great Painless wiring kits for $499.

He only had to pay someone $1200 to install it and took two week for the guy to finish.

He told me that the work 6 hours a day for two week to get it all install and working properly.
