68' Coupe
A couple years back my dad bought a really beat up 68 coupe that was covered in bondo. He put a bunch of money into it and built the engine. Heres what I was wondering, he loves the car but he hates the handling and he is trying to figure out what would be the best thing to do. Ive heard of transmission swaps from the mustang II but I was wondering what would be the best way to improve the handling.

im gonna guess. no power steering? my 68 doesnt. try a new steering box and an alignment....... if that dont work, spring/ shocks... just minor tuneups on things like that. as for the brakes, im going to assume they are drum all the way around. im goning to put 13" drilled and slotted on mine

New springs and sway bars are a good start

I would highly recomend starting with all new pollyurethane bushings to help tighten up the old tired front end. Seems minor, but really woke my stang up.

TCP and Global West make some fantastic suspension parts that will have that 68 handling as good as a modern day mustang. the correct alignment with some good tires will make a big difference as well. i'd also look at the steering box, sometimes they can just be adjusted and it will eliminate the slop in the steering wheel. other times they need to be replaced. you can also opt for a rack and pinion steering to replace the old school recirc ball style. these cars are so light you don't need power steering plus it is only power assist which only makes slow turns easier. if you have it great, but i wouldn't add it.
