390 vs. 429

Does the 429 have any advantages over the 390, and vice versa, as far as performence and engine reliability go? Sure, the 429 has more power, but is that it?

The 390 sucks. The heads have to be replaced for you to get any power out of it. You have to spend to much money on it to make it fast.

The 429 is a fast motor, but not the best motor over the long haul. Maybe a 427 or a 428 would be better for you.

Well, that is concise. What exactly is the problem with the 429 over time? I was leaning towards the 390 just so I wouldn't have to scoop the hood to make it fit.

I never had one, but I heard that you need to rebuild them after 10,000 miles. That could just be the 429SCJ.

That stinks. I think I am just getting carried away with the possibilities. I've had this car for so long and am finally starting to get it going and just want to go nuts (luckily my wife and bank account keep me in check). Another good deal will surely come along later, no need to rush into things. Thanks
