Floor Pan Installation
I'm getting ready to cut out my old floor pans (what's left of them) and put in new ones. My concern is that the front frame rails are welded, partly, to the pans and I'm concerned that provides crucial support. When cutting them out should I support the car with jacks/jack stands?

It's ok to do it on the ground, but make sure your car is perfectly level when you start welding, because if it not, it could be slightly tweked when you weld in the pans and that can cause problems.

i agree with fastback.be sure it is level and your new pans are all the way doun and connected to the sub frame before you start welding.

By level do you mean just on flat ground, or should I put a level on the car somewhere and use jacks to make it level? The rear of the car sits a little high due to the leaf springs so would I need to raise the front? Also, I'm not replacing all of the floor pans, just the 60" from the pedals to past the bucket seats on both sides. Does that make a difference? Can't I just put the floor pans in where I cut the old ones out and that should be good?
Anyone know of a good resource with step-by-step directions I can use to cheat? Thanks |

it is best done on a concreat floor.measure from the floor up in 4 places.behind front wheels and in front of rear wheels.block it with 2 by 6 and weld it up.
