65 289 4Bbl Warm Up ...

I just picked up a 65 fastback that's been GT-350-ized. Everything seems pretty sound with a few items here and there. I've got a couple of eng oil leaks that I was going to fix myself, but then decided that if I'm going to start digging in maybe I should warm up the engine a bit with some go fast parts. I'm interested in any thoughts this site might have around what makes sense and what doesn't. Already have an Edlbk intake and carb, racing wires, elec igntn, etc. Thinking here of more along the lines of inside the engine. Any ideas where you get the biggest bang for the buck?

I'd go cam and heads for sure, at last a cam. Will really wake the car up. Headers and the rest of the exhaust would be real beneficial too. I like a small block with a bumpy cam and good exhaust.

Becareful with head selection. 289s used 54cc combustion chambers so make sure you choose a head with that size of a chamber or the compression ratio will drop.

The heads on the 289 suck! You can have your heads worked on and I think that would be the biggest bang for the buck next to a good cam.
