1970 Mustang

Hey,

My Parents Bought Me A 1970 302 Mustang For My 18th Birthday.I Was Wondering If I Could Get Some Advice On What I Can Do To Get More Power/ Faster 1/4 Mile Times Out Of It. Any Advice Is Greatly Appreciated. I Have About $2000 To Work With So If You Could Please Leave The Cost Of Upgrade I Would Be Thankful.

Here Are Some Pics To Help

4v carb, intake, cam, heads, headers. I know this is going to cost more then $2,000, but you need all of it. If you don't have the money, then you need to save you money up for it.

For starters like everyone else said 4v carb if thats all you can afford get the intake and carb and then save for the rest. But if you could do it all at once that would be the best.

He can have his heads reworked. So much horses in a 302 come from the heads. The heads suxed. You can put chevy valve in them and make them so much better.

I know mine got a noticeable increase just from taking it to a ford engine guy. A good tune will go a long way with an old car. Cost me $20 and case of beer.

600 CFMs for most 302s. If you put a 600cfm carb on now with your stock cam, it will not do good. Right now I have a 750 on my 289 and it runs great, but I know it to big. I am going down to about a 650cfm.

If he gets 289 4v heads and do that to them, then they are alot better. The aftermarket heads are not much bigger and some of them are not any bigger.
