Vacuum line

I have a 67 and the other day noticed that the vacuum line was shot by the tranny. I when to go take it off and it smelled like gas. Is this normal cause it ties into the carb???

One barrel holleys have a hard choke that will make it draw a little extra gas on start up.this is where the resadue comes from.this may be a good thing, shows you have a good modulater valve.
