the 281 or 4.6 is a great engine that is part of the modular engine family
which also includes a 330/5.4 V8and a 6.8/415 V10.they come in 2v,3v and 4v versions.depending on the block they are either aluminum or iron.
these engines are internally balanced. If you want more cubes you can install a stroker and better yet no block clearancing is necessary to do so.
the 2v 4.6 engines came in 2 versions the NPI and PI versions,96-98 were the NPIs were rated at 225 hp and the 99-04 were the PIs rated at 260 hp.

im keeping the I6 in my car for a while, the most i would do to the car at this point is maybe throw a turbo on it and thats a long shot.

The 4.6 is not a good fit. If I was going to do a swap, I would put in a 5.0.
Its about the same as the 289, but it is a roller block and it fits.

I like the turbo. You have turbo lag and that makes it easyer on the drive train.

dude i wished i kept my 66 mustang.... i had a killer idea for I6 swap to make somtin nasty
but yeah that 4.6 is freakin wide as all hell, its almost exactly 3 inches wider then a 460 ford motor (or 429).
