65 Mustang Glove Box Door! Please Help!


wow i just tried for 2 hours to get this glove box door fit with a new latch and striker plate but it just isnt fitting!!

does anyone know if this is not gonna fit in my mustang or what its a 65 fastback i bought this kit 6 months ago???

btw i have the understanding that the door i bought was for a 65-66gt and i dont think my mustang was originally a GT but i dont see why the door wouldnt fit?

the original glove box door was rounded the new one i bought is flat

this is driving me crazy but if your confused i guess i am asking is there anyway a 1965 mustang gt glove box door will fit on a 1965 mustang that is NOT a gt???

It should fit. Take pics of your old one and your new one. Not sure about what you mean by flat and round.

You sometimes have to make some adjustments and play with the fit for the glove bax to close. But it should definitely fit.

Possible Fix


I realize that you may have figured this out awhile back, but thought I'd post this for anyone that might come across this thread in the future:

If your car had the curved glove box door and you are now trying to install the GT glove box door, you must remove the two rubber bumpers on either side of the glove box in order for the GT door to close properly. I recently converted from the curved glove box door to the GT and it took me about two hours to figure out what the problem was. Hope this helps.
