Saleen or Roush Engine In A 69/70 Mustang

Has anyone heared about puting a modern Saleen or Roush engine in a 1969 or 1970 Mustang without modification of the frame? I know there would be a lot of work doing that but I want the car to look stock from outside.

Well my point was to explain what are my plans and my question is about a 4.6 modular in a classic Mustang. I know it's wider than older engines and I am not sure about if cutting out the suspension boxes is needed or not in the compartment. A compressor will also take a lot of room.

I don't want to cut anything on a car like a 69 Mustang and the hood has to stay stock but the K member should be no problem. If some of you have a link to a website or a forum discussion about this kind of mod I'll be very interested.

No its not to wide I have seen the 5.4 DOHC motor in a 69 and thats the widest motor Ford has ever made. Wider than the Boss 429. Just took lots of shock tower work and what not to et it to fit in. But you should have that problem becasue the 4.6 isnt that wide

Maybe someone with a 4.6 should tell us how wide it is.

I think the engine compartment in a 69 is wider than in a 68 but it can't be smaller. Thanks for your input guys.

I don't really think it will fit without a lot of fab, but I could be wrong. I know it's been done though.

Here's one that's been done, but it doesn't really give you any details on it.

You will need fab work like cut shock towers to fit the wider engine.

There was an article in Mustang Monthly a few months back about this guy that put a 5.4 DOHC in his I think it was a 69 but I could be wrong

Ill try to look it up

I wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't put any aftermarket stereo, or anything else that required any cutting/modifying of any part of the car. To each their own.
