About to give up!
My 67 coupe is old, I understand this. But, everything forward of the firewall is no good except for the fenders and grill. everything is rusted even the frame rails. hood is rusted underneath but can be replaced later. Anybody got any ideas where I can get aftermarket parts that are going to fit? I guess my little project is going to be an all out project, or I should give it up and find something else. I love a challenge!

Well it's a good thing you like a challenge because you are in for one. If this car was from up north (rust belt), you will have rust everywhere. I have a 68 Fastback that has some rust issues as well. Most vendors carry sheet metal. Alot of the repop stuff doesnot always fit well. It has been my experience that a parts car or NOS works best. These arenot always available. Try National Parts Depot, Dallas Mustang, etc. If there is a vendor close to you that you can pick up parts it will save you on expensive shipping. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

my parts lined up great. I got a front drivers side panel and it lined up with the door really really close...but the things with these old cars is that they dont have the perfect lines like the new ones. they are off only by a very little bit. But i have nothin but great things to say about the body parts from there. Granted i only got one part, but it worked real nice.

I heard that if you have trouble it will show up in the hood. Your car can get rearended and it will show up in the hood. Lots of times the boby shop did not fix the car right and you could tell because the hood did not fix just right.

I appreciate all comments good or bad as I know that I can reference them now or later any information you give me will be of use. I have never worked on a mustang before and everything is starting to make sense on thes old cars. I don't think that this car would stand a chance if most people looked at it, but I have a pretty good idea that this could be a pretty cool car as a custom so I am looking for ideas. The girlfriend wants a coupe with an Eleanor look to it. Lots of fun ahead. Anybody want to help?

or you could start looking for a donor/parts car. Meaning a mustang that has been wrecked in the back end or maybe missing the parts you don't need type thing.

mustangs unlimited is a great palce to go, there is also a mustang junkyard with like 60 or 70 60's model mustangs that have been wrecked and what not just around mustangs unlimited. Though don't forget about year one.

I am finding that parts are readily available, but I wonder about the aftermarket fit. I want this to look nice and drive nice.

I did not know what to look for when I bought my car. the guy who owned it hit a deer. Aftermarket parts include
batt tray, radiator support, Upper and lower control arms, spring perches, two floor pans, two frame rails, sub frame connectors, fenders, gas tank rear support, the list goes on and on. I used mustang unlimited not a bad thing to say! Dont lose hope. If you want it you can do it it took me 8 years. ![]()
