Not sure how much you are willing to spend on your suspension but i must say the RRS setup on my mustang is awesome! Koni Shocks, Eaibach springs, (coil over/strut suspension) handles great and looks damn sexy with the brembo brakes. Check it out at rrs-online.com i currently have the phase 5 setup and im lovin it. Only issue is you have to use 18 wheels for the phase five setup, but they have all regular components of the same setup for alot cheaper for smaller wheels and not racing components.

Depends on what you want to do. Global West is a good company.

is the problem the tires hitting the quarter panel, or inside the wheel well?

quarter panel. they stick out just a hair too much toward the upper back part of the wheel. they wheels barely touch however its already wore some paint away.

Global West has top quality stuff. I bought their reverse eye rear leaf spring setup and it is top shelf. Doug is a very knowledgeable guy as well.

I hate to suggest it, but worst comes worst, and you can flare the wheel wells out a little, that'll stop that, and if it's done right it'll look pretty kewl

Are the leaf springs original? If so they probably need to be replaced.

more than likely yes. i want to basically replace the whole suspension for the car. however if i do i just want to be sure that im still not going to rub. i love the way the car looks right now so i don't want to do a flare or adjust ride height, just restrict how far the rear end will squat over bumps and on launches.

If they barely touch now they probably won't at all with new springs. 40+ year old springs are way past retirement. I ran some Mickey Thompson G60s back in the day on my 65 and the tread sat flush with the edge of the wheel well opening. They didn't rub unless I had passenegers in the car and cornered hard.

Thanks Darrell. my tires also set flush so hopefully new springs will help it out

What size tires do you have? I'm not sure about the 65, but with the right offset, you can run some pretty wide tires in the 69-70 with no issues.

The wheel well housings are quite a bit larger on the 69/70s then the 65/66s.
Certainly wheel offset (backspacing) is the key to fitting larger tires under your steed.
