Oh I know. But that is a pretty radical cam. But as the carb was designed, that is not how they are used. Holley is the same way. If it is open at idle, you tear it down and put in a smaller PV, you don't ever change the jetting for idle. They are only for cruise and WOT.

Thats what I have and I like it, but when I pull the engine in a few months, it's getting a street demon.

I have had them all, and I like the street avenger, but I realy like the performance, and driveability aspects I've had when running Demons. They cost a little more, but I think you get what you pay for.

Oh, and I forgot that the street avenger sits just a little bit higher than a standard holley, and I'm having hood clearance problems. My air cleaner has dents in it from hitting the studs that hold the scoop on when the engine torques. I think the stress that puts on it is what's causing my intake to leak.

I have the drop down bottom piece on the cleaner. I'm going to try to find a smaller diameter cleaner that still drops down to try and solve the problem.

They sit higher ? Did not know that. There are a few tricks you can do at home. How much more room do you need. Doesn't sound like much. Do you already have the 1.5 drop base or just the 1in ? You can trim a little metal from the base of the cleaner where it meets the carb. You can take the down pretty far, until it hits the needle and seat adjustments. The K&N top will give you a little more room also. they flex more than your standard top when you tighten them also.(If you take the metal mesh out from underneath.)

Yeah I have 1.5 drop, and I've never had this problem with other Holley carbs. I can't say it sits higher I guess until I actually check that out...lol, but this seems to be the only carb that's given me trouble.
