Help Finding Disc Brake Conversion Kits

does anyone know where i can find a front disc brake conversion kit that will fit my 1966 mustangs styled steel wheels? I seem to be having trouble finding one that will fit those. I have checked stainless steel, cj pony, california mustang, etc. but i just cant find them. so please if you know tell me.

Why don't they fit? What year is your car(66)? Are these your rims? What size are they?

those are them and they are 14x5 i believe. I think that was the standard size on 66. But the original GTs came with disc brakes so it really doesnt make sense why they would not make ones that fit the GT rims.

Let me check into it. I am real busy today, so it will not be to today. I think the stock rotors are smaller then the aftermarket rotors. The stock disc brakes were better the the drums, but still sucked.

I find that the min. i rim size is for a 14x7 rim. Not sure what size your is. I think a Granada Disc Brake Swap would work. Not sure, But I will see what I can find. You may have to get some new rims and give me those old ones

Everything I can find tells me that it has to be a 14x7 rim or bigger. I am sure that there is a way to make something work. Let me make some phone calls and and I will get back with you.

Called yearone and they told me that a 14x5 had to have a 3 1/2 backspacing or less to work. Not sure what you back spacing is on your rims.

The Granada Disc Brake Swap will work. Some 14" rims will not clear the Granada rotor (especially the stock 14" Styled Steel wheels), as the Granada rotor has a very wide snout. This can be turned down by a machine shop if necessary. Of course a cheaper alternative would be to grind down the offending area on the caliper.

The cheapest place to find parts is the junkyard.

I am a newbie here but wanted to spread kudos for the Disc brake system I installed on my 65.
I went to the local junk yard and was told that OLD Granada parts would be 350 Dollars.Yeah, Right... And then I would need to rebuild, buy new pads, bearings , etc. My Estimated cost was going to be 550 and lots of running around and time.
I found a website http://www.discbrakeswap.com/body_index.html that looked really good and took PayPal. I sent 4 emails to Dennis, the owner, and he answerered EVERY question within 3 hours. I ordered ALL NEW parts for THE COMPLETE change out including new master cylinder for $525 plus $70 shipping and handling!!!!
I ordered it and 5 days later it was at my door. Everything complete and new. Dennis also has incredibly detailed instructions on his site to install it.
http://www.discbrakeswap.com/The_Gra...9.3006.v01.pdf
It went on and was completed in 1 day.
It was nice working with all new parts and having EVERYTHING!
I am 1 happy camper...

For just a little more, around $1500 you could get a Heidts mustang II ifs, disk brake setup, and rack& pinion steering. there is a website called RJays performance parts that I will be ordering mine from.http://www.rjays.com/Front_End/hei_imgs/MII-Susp-lg.jpg
