what is an FMX auto and where to find a 351 clevland

just as it says. I've never heard of the FMX auto. I got the vin and everything else decoded to find my car came with the 351 clevland and was originally acapulco blue. I'd really like to try and find pictures of my car from back in the day. So basically I found out it's a M code car and of course the grande edition which I knew.

The FMX was a common transmission back in the day. They were the auto used in all the 351 cars in 69 and 70. It's a heavy duty tranny, and it's heavy in weight with it's cast iron body, and a few of them had cast iron bell housings as well. I used to have one that needed rebuilt, but I just sold it a few months ago. Sometimes they have them on ebay, but check around with some tranny shops in your area, because most people don't know how to work on them, so be careful what you buy.

Boosted, I have two FMX transmissions and one of them came out of a 70 H code 351 car. I also have a recently rebuilt H code 351C. Let me know if you are interested. I don't want a fortune for any of this stuff. Just need to make room in the garage.

An FMX is nothing like a C4 other than it has 3 forward gears and 1 reverse gear and a removeable bellhousing. Side by side they look nothing a like.

I'm going for putting the car back to factory which includes putting the 351 cleveland back in with the FMX tranny. It also needs put back to the original acapulco blue (which why someone painted it white is beyond me) it looks good though. I'm going for some boss wheels and to reupholster the 2 front seats. That should be all it needs. I'm glad I got it though it's a very solid car to start with.

Yes the FMX is a bigger transmission ment to hold more "horse power" an to Dave i take it you have never really seen one nor been inside both transmissions. Also it is longer. i think maybe an inch loger then the C4. Honestly boostedzx3 the c4 is a better transmission. but just sayin i hope your car comes out excelent have fun.

I think the most i'll be doing is putting a set of gears into it. Does the gearing suck that bad or?

OK OK OK I was wrong.... i had thought that when i was under a 73 I had that they did not look much different. Geez. But I know they both have Transmission fluid!

I took the entire car apart, and just sent the trannies out to be rebuilt, so no the only thing I have actually done is take out a C4 Valvebody and look at it and put it back in. And of course install the tranny
