Motor Help

Anyone in the raleigh north carolina area know of anywhere to get a new motor for around 2500. It needs to be a 289, 302 old type or the 5.0 motors with the efi or a 351 windsor.

Blew the 289 in my 1968 mustang today so any help or advise will be nice thanks in advance.

40 years old... it had been on it's last leg for a while and it blew a head gasket. When it did it looked exactly like when a car blows in nascar smoke and all.

If you're willing to rebuild you can usually find plenty of motors on craigslist. If you want a brand new crate motor, you'll likely be spending more than $2500

it needs to be more of a daily driver, but if it wasn't that would be a nice swap. probably going to finish yanking the motor out either tonight or tomorrow and see how bad off it is. rebuilding it depends a lot on how much machining it will need.
