Paint Job Quotes

Well today I went to two different body shops. I told them I have a 68 mustang that need to have a quarter panel welded on and then after that primed and painted. The first place I went to said they would do it for 10k and the other place I went to said they would do it for 7k. Doesn't this seem extremely high. Im just wonder how much others paid to have their cars painted.

i had a friend of the family's paint my car. i just had to pay for paint. i would probably replace the panel before having a body shop do it to cut the cost however that does sound really high priced to me

That's not unreasonable for a quality paint job.

Paint varies on the shops labor rate. I would ask to see a customers 8k-10k pain job to see what it will look like. A 8k paint to some shops, might cover bodywork and primer. The place down the street paints and it pretty much start at 15k. OR you can wait until the car shows start to pop up again in good weather and find ones you like and start picking their brains. People love talking about their cars.

Makes me glad I live in Texas. Prices aren't that high yet. I have a friend that will do a classic car correctly for about $5k. Take it down to metal, replace any rust areas with metal, prime and block sand and then paint and block sand. Takes him a while to finish one, but does great work. He painted my 57 Chevy and my 72 Buick GSX.

I don't know where you are located, but good luck with your search.

My '65 is costing me £1200 (about $2.5k) for a full "inside & out" paintjob. and I thought that was expensive...

Thumbs up

64 Corvette paint job 6000 for black
71 mach1 5000 for show quality
quote from same guy for 65 coupe 4000.

I live north of chicago, and the guy has been painting cars for over 30 years, see a lot of high priced cars there, he is getting quite the reputation for some custom bodywork. Does great work, so ask to see an example of work before you fork over that amount of cash.
