New project--Modern twist to a `65 Coupe

I've been in and out of the site for a while now, but have a feeling it's time to jump back in. I just bought a `65 Coupe that had most of the rust in the floors replaced and has no engine. 3sp, driveshaft, rear are in place, but honestly I've had an urge to do the modern twist to the gal.

I'm just finishing up a Factory Five Cobra that I installed a `99 Cobra drivetrain in with the IRS so it gave me a bug I can't shake. I know I might get a good bit of heat from people that like original restorations, but who cares? My intension is to take the old rear suspension out and put the IRS chassis I have laying around from my old build (from `99 Cobra). This aong with cutting out the front shock towers and putting in the infamous Mustang II front suspension dropping in a 4.6L/trans set up.

I'd like to be a bit budget conscious, but after building the Cobra I know how budgets get blown out of the water.

I've been doing my own research on the processes, but I know from experience that there's a lot of good advice out there and all you need to do is ask. Hopefully you guys can provide some good direction. I'm going to need it.

I'm looking for some info on front and rear IRS on the Gen1 Mustangs and maybe some links on the build. I've found a few sites that promote their own products to use the 99-03 Cobra IRS and the Mustang II front suspension to open up the front end for big blocks, but would like a little input from those that have gone through the pains from a personal perspective.
I'm looking for others that have done these mods or other options if there are any.

Mustang 2 suspension is great if you just want room but the other suspensions that are out there will be much better.

check out AJEracing.com.

I have some progress pictures from an install going on as we speak on my website then go to forums, then to projects. There is also pictures on the pictures link of a job we did over 6 months ago.

The FFR was a great experience. I was going to post some pics earlier, but I had to have a few posts before they would allow pics.

X2.

And to go back to your comments about original restorations, I only like them when everything on the car is original.

no way, the sexiness in that car creates an anti rain bubble around it, so you never get wet!
