Anyone been messing with the solonoid on the inner fender apron? If so, the two center post connectors are installed backwards?

Why the switch?
Did you turn the switch to the on position and check for voltage at the coil? If you get voltage at the coil terminals then it is not the switch.

check your distributor make sure your timing isn't off if it came loose? also the solenoid, they are cheap just replace it and see what happens. cant really be too much else.

possible the switch is ok, since it is cranking, but if the solenoid is bad the current will not continue and the circuit will not loop.

if you already fixed it, let us know what happened

Spiderz,
Turn the switch to "on". Use a votlmeter at the + on the coil and the other lead to the block or any good ground. If you are getting 8 volts or more at the coil then the key is good.

Or, remove the + wire from the coil. Then use a jumper wire from battery + the coil +.
Then use a screwdriver to jump across the solenoid to crank the motor. if it starts you just hot wired your car, they are soo easy to steal.

Bottom line, if you don't check the voltage at the coil you are just throwing money at the car.

The wire red w/green stripe off your ing sw you need to see if it has power at the coil while the key is turn to the on position. If there is no power there, check at the ing sw same color wire.

The reason your car starts while starting is that the start sol and providing power to the brown wire that feeds 12v to the coil while starting. so that mean the wiring from the fire wall to the coil is good. The problem is from the fire wall to the Key switch.
