anyone ever try patriot sbf heads?

with those and comp cams xtreme energy 284H cam kit, rpm air gap intake, and a holly 4150 750cfm carb would be just over 2k. any good for 2k?

Save your money on the Patriot heads. I haven't heard a single good thing about them.

Yeah, I've heard you're not going to see much power gain becuase they have a poor runner and port design. I've also heard they're fragile if you ever get them hot, or have any other problems. There's a reason they're cheap.

I'm sure they would have to better than stock though

Just finished my 289. I used a set of ProComp alum heads with 190cc runners and 2.02/1.60 valves and it runs great. They ran about 1000 for the set. They arent "AFR's" but great value for the money and have given me no problems. The imports hate me haha. But then again, I have no concerns about overheating due to a custom radiator that only ran me about 300 bucks. Making about 350 horse on NA cam. Alot of fun!

That build will will get to the 400 hp number for $2305.95
and also you can spray this motor. Just remember the more power you make the easier it is the find your weak links in your drive train. with 190 cc heads you need to go with a flat top piston to get 10.5 compression. with set up I would use a 3:55 gear for you rearend. and fit a 27" tall tire or bigger under your 1966 stang. Good Luck

he's already said he wants to keep stock displacement though, he's trying to make 400 with 289 cubic inches, not 331
