Thumbs up

1965 SOHC 427 mustang

I saw this online about a year back and I figured I'd share it here for anybody who hasn't seen it. From what I read 5 of these were built for drag racing. Imagine having the power of the best performance engine Ford ever made under your hood!!!!! The car runs 9's with 1960's slick tires and suspension! Must be a wild ride....

this is the website with all the pictures and info

I just don't get why they would leave the stock rear suspension when the front was so heavily modified.

Your telling me you have never heard of the 427 SOHC Pinto?!?!?!?!

Just screwing with you man. These engines were available over the counter only, you couldn't get them in a car. These things are the baddest engine ford ever made as previously stated..... The best engine they ever put in a car back in the day was the boss 429, that was push rod though completely different. The 429 was dulled down a ton though with a tiny carb, shitty exhaust and intake manifold and a smog pump.

Oh and I know i'll get my nuts nailed to the wall if I don't say this. The real Shelby Cobra had this engine in it. But technically that isn't "stock" because every one was a custom order..... 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra CSX3305 at Colin's Classic Auto
