Is This A Good Deal?

ok so i'm driving along and i see a 1965 ford mustang just sitting in a lot and it has a for sale sign on it.. i call the number and i come to find that it is only $5,000... it's a red 6 cylinder automatic coupe.. a little faded and only one major rust spot on the body.. and the ignition needs to be replaced.. but other than that it's good to go.. do ya'll think that is a good buy??

not 5,000 since it is a 6 cylinder and still needs work. If it were a complete car with no work needed and in good shape, then maybe 5. I wouldn't pay that much for it.

You are in the wrong state to get a good Mustang. That is a rust state.

wowzers... then 5 is a realllllly bad deal.. thanks for opening my eyes!! lol this guy is a hard nut to crack.. i had my cousin (he is the only boy around at the moment) ask him if he would either trade or go down on the price and he said no he couldn't go lower because he wants to use the money from this car to fix an old truck he has and apparently he didn't like any of my other cars.. I'M SO STRESSSED! it's not very often a classic mustang comes around my area.. i want it so bad because who knows when another chance to get one is gonna come!

Yeah 1,600 is a pretty rare price for no rust. For that price I would expect to have to completely restore the vehicle. I think 3,500- 4,000 would be a more reasonable price.

I picked up my 65 notch back for 6,500 but the interior had just been redone, it had a new paint job, a bitchin set of keystones, and it just recently had a 302 put in it. When i bought it the engine had less than 800 miles on it. It also had an engine dressup treament, ceramic coated headers and a flow master exhaust.

So 5,000 is a little pricey, but that's just our opinion, if thats a good lookin car to you then sit down and think about it for a minute. If you think its worth 5k then buy it. Trust me nobody here is going to make fun of you for spending 5k on a classic mustang. Our opinions are also a little off since we don't live in florida. If they don't come along that often then yes, they will be worth more in florida than they will in other states.

So in other words, it isn't about what we think the car is worth, it's about what the car is worth to you. If you can afford it, why not?

If I was you, I would look in AZ for one. Go on ebay and look or autotrader.com and look.

I live in az, I can help you out if you don't have a problem flying out to pick up the car or paying freight to have somone ship it to you. Just let me know what years you want and I can look around.

i don't think i would fly out there lol but i would probably pay to have it shipped.. its not that i was looking for one i just happened to see it and i have always wanted one.. anything from 65 to 69 and one that is manual instead of automatic would be what i would most be interested in.. to be more specific.. a 1967 shelby GT500.. :wink lol but the odds of that are probably not good especially with my luck ha ha.. thanks for offering to help me, by the way!!

I would take him up on it or let him find one for you and fly out there and look at it yourself. Fl is not a good state to buy a rust free car.

No problem, Ive been on the hunt for a first gen fastback for a project car so this just fits right in with my hunt. I must admit though, cars in good condition at low prices don't come along too often. usually people put the extra effort and money in to restore them, or they are idiots and believe that since they see cars the same year as theirs going in the teens theirs is worth that much too. Doubly so with the fastbacks, so right now the closest i can get is a 1/24 scale model gt350h I picked up over the weekend. Also from what I've heard, shipping is going to cost close to a grand. It would be cheaper to get a one way ticket (if we found you one that you wanted) and drive it home. Actually it would even be cheaper to fly here rent a truck and trailer and take it home that way. But like I said I'll keep an eye out none the less.
