The Cam is not the novice Mechanic Id say
Comp Cams COM-35-414-3 .500/.500 270/270 LC 110 $119.95
1,800 - 5,800 Mild Rouge idel Stock Converter.
Headman Headers HED 88660 $149.95

3:50 Gears SUM-740901 $139.95

This set up will do you just fine.
The Cam and rear end gear you will need help with, to install

Good Luck

If he had more than $600 Bucks We could do all kinds of thing.

Think 579.95 For posi would blow our budget.

That cam would be a good choice, and wouldn't take a lot of other parts to make it work. You would probably want someone who has done some cam installs to help out.

That Cam is clam enough to use with what you have already. Just Remember it uses a 351 firing order

Why would you change the firing order? Is that what this cam runs?

Hey guys does all of this need to be done with a new cam?

Always install new lifters with a new or used flat tappet camshaft. Roller lifters may be reused with roller camshafts only after careful inspection for excessive lifter wear. Always use valve springs that match the camshaft manufacturer's requirements for open and closed seat pressures at the correct installed height. Other valvetrain components may be required (screw-in rocker arm studs, pushrod guideplates, hardened pushrods, special distributor drive gear, etc.), depending upon the profile of the cam you choose.

Thats what summit said and seems expensive

You definitely would need to change your valve springs with a new cam

and i would probably do the cam first over gears since you can't afford the posi

trust me with the cap it will just freakin jump at shifts its amazing like and you will fall in love with your car and its sound too

i used to love my car and after the cam i still love driving it and hearing it everyday when i wake up in the morning

now these guys will answer your other questions

??? nba1341 you lost me ???

Stock Ford Single valve springs are just fine up to .540 Lift.

No you dont need to remove your motor. Replacing your cam is a job that should be done by someone that knows how to do it. Yes Lifters need to be be replaced, and while you are there might as well replace your timing gear set.
The Rearend is something that needs to be done by somone that knows how.

To bad you dont live close to us. I have a 17 yo 1970 FB own over today doing this same things to his car at our shop. We let him do his own work while we watch over him. Its a great way to learn.

Ok so that the springs are ok what kind of lifters would you need for this swap I am really getting into some uncharted waters now. Timing gear set? I know what a timing gear is but changing the whole set and adjusting it wow......

I am planning on only doing the cam for now when I get done with finals in a week and half. I would like to have all the stuff order b4 I get home.

I have my uncle who worked on race cars for this local guy and a chevy guy who loves to help out so I bet between the 2 I should be ok but I am clueless on what to buy when it comes ot lifters and timing sets
