Broken again

I just landed from a trip, and I was playing around leaving the airport. I jumped on it from about a 2mph roll, and it made a loud bang and jumped out of gear. I put it back and gear, and it seemed to be fine, but I noticed an unusual rumble going down the highway. When I pulled up to the stop light I thought I heard something. When I engaged the clutch to take off, I heard a slight banging noise that sounded like it was coming from the rear. It sounded like a u-joint.

I pulled into a parking lot to check it out, and the u joints look fine, so I got back in and everytime I take off, or let off the gas while I moving, it makes the noise. When I got on the highway it has a rumble that seems like it's coming from the rear, and it has a slight vibration associated with it. I limped it home, and I guess I'll take a look at it this weekend.

No, I'm afraid to go out and look at it.

I haven't actually checked it yet. I just don't think that it jumping out of gear can break a u joint. I'm just assuming it's going to be the transmission. The symptoms act like a u joint, so that's what I'm checking first, but I don't have my hopes up for that .

Yeah, top loader.

I can't get the damn driveshaft out. The slip yoke is stuck on the output shaft. When I say stuck, I mean I about pulled the car off the jackstands when pulling on the driveshaft. Any ideas?

IIt took some help form a buddy, but I got it off..Looks like the raw horsepower of the 351W was too much for that u joint I put in about 3 months ago. One of the caps is in about 6 pieces.t took some help form a buddy, but I got it off..Looks like the raw horsepower of the 351W was too much for that u joint I put in about 3 months ago. Hey, Now when you do the rebuild of the 351, We could now start dreaming of the TKO 5 Speed. With out having to just need 1.
