65 GT Coupe with 289

Proud owner of a 65 GT Coupe/Hardtop with 289. Just found out that the carby is cracked near an air intake, some fool seems to have taken to it with a hammer. Looks like all original.
Looks like the carby is where I should start and work from there. Help on selection would be appreciated, whether I go 2V or 4V, for that matter does the 4V fit, will I need adaptors etc... not looking to go over the top here but want good performance, and an even better note from the exhaust. Thanks for your help folks

Get an Edelbrock Performer intake and a Holley 600 cfm carburetor.

I have the Edlebrock Performer intake and 600 cfm Edlebrock 4 barrel on my J code 68. Very reliable carb with electric chock. Never fails to start, especially with a little ether on cold winter mornings. Holley makes a good carb as well. Both of these will be cheaper and more reliable than the stock carb.

If you want to keep the stock look, you can paint it the new intake same color as the block.

And what about mag rims?

Doesnt look like there is a lot of room in a 65, any suggestions on a nice set of rims without having to flare the guards. Sizes etc.

I am looking at getting 15x7. Make sure you get the right offset. I am not sure what it is. I could find out.

I would go with an Edelbrock Performer 289 intake and a Holley 600

you can put 16s under car with the right profile tire

jumpy speedo sounds like a bad cable and the gas gauge could be the sending unit on the gas tank
