Any 5 Lug Mustang wheels will work, the bolt pattern is 5 on 4 1/2. The New mustang wheels will need 1" spacers to work on the old Mustangs

for the most part your correct. You just gotta get the back spacing right. My buddy has a 64 1/2 mustang. When I got my FR500s on my car I told him we should take my bullets and put em on his car to see what it would look like. The fit pretty well they just rubed the leaf spring on the inside... a small spacer will do that trick. But ya cant go TOO far out cuz you will rub the fender then.

To the OP... in short yeah you can do what your talking about... just need either half or quartar inch spacers. Hell it may get really hairy under there with the big drag slicks but im sure it would work.

Takes a 1 " Spacer on the New Mustang Wheels to fit on the old mustangs.

here is my problem i have 245 wide tires and they already hit my fender but thats only going over bumps

if i get some 245 wide drag radials and launch them i shouldnt have to worry about it hitting my fender right???

like it really only does this on dips so a launch would not apply?

This Car has 17 X 7 4.5 Back Space Front 225/45/17 Tire
17 X 9.5 5.5 Back space Rear 245/45/17 Tire

This one runs fine

if 245 is hitting on bumps it is going to hit on launch.

My rear tires drop inside the wheel well. I use 4 Leaf Mid Eye Leaf Spring on the back of that car. With Monreo Gas matics shocks. Rides Great.
