I Have A Question (Convertible Conversion)

Like I stated in a previous post, I am going to be on the look out for a 65 or 66 mustang here next year and was wondering something. I really want a convertible, but my question, is it possible to take a coupe and have it converted in a convertible and is it recommended?

thanks in advance.

I am sure you can, but I don't know who could do it or how to do it. I know people have done it to other cars. There are hard to find vert parts that you might have to get. I don't think I would do it not knowing what I was doing.

I would definately not recommend taking on such a project.
The structural build of a convertible is far different then that of a coupe fastback or otherwise. The job can be done but is simply not worth the effort. Obviously this is a worthy idea since convertibles almost always cost quite a bit more and are always hard to find but the cost of a job like this would be equivalent to the difference in vehicle price. And to pick up an original will only extend the value of the car even more.

I say, dont do it.

That's what I was figuring. I am not really worried about the value of the car as I have always wanted a classic convertable and will more than likely have it for a number of years once I get it. As with my 2004, it would take an act from god to get me to get rid of it.
