if you changed the intake you may have the dist a tooth off.just set harmonic balancer on top dead center an check where rotor is pointing.

did that on saturday bub. took the distributor out, primed the oil, then i did set it to tdc an put the distributor back in. started right up on saturday an was idleing fine. now i try it on sunday an the damn thing was missing, but the timing light on it was way off. so how can that be the distributor? plus i need to rebuild the engine

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but did you much sure the distributor was tight? It sounds like it might have spun a little on you. If the timing chain was jumping gears, you would be sure of it.

got proof that it is the timing chain. it was off by 15 degrees an now sounds like the valves are hitting or something metal i should say.

take that back lads. apparently alcohol an working on cars is bad thing. for got to take a rag out of the intake an well needless to say it is wedged in between the valves. so i dont know exactly yet how extensive the damage. but will post picks of my blunder
