dim dash lights on 67
My dash gauge lights are very dim. The wiring is good. Everything works fine except the dash lights are dim. Any suggestions to make them brighter? Can I use brighter bulbs and if so what numbers would work? Thanks

Something to think about is maybe you are not getting enough voltage to the lights even though the wiring looks fine. Just a thought...otherwise I don't know what numbers will work.

Just one thing to check first, Turn the knob to the left to see if they are set to the brightest setting.
If they are , Clean or replace the bulb covers. The bulbs are 1895's if all is set right and clean they are pretty bright. |

Sounds like your headlight switch may be broken-Dimming portion only. Alot of times, the dim "wheel" in the switch corrodes. It could be getting minimum volts from a corrosion problem. The switches are cheap and easy to replace. Good luck. Dont put brighter bulbs in. This has been known to cause a heat problem and melt wiring.

Just installed LED bulbs into my dash lights and they are at least 3 times brighter. Here is the link for the Ebay site I got them from. If you are going to open up the cluster, you may as well do it with these and never have to change bulbs again.
Seller got them to me in 4 days and fit perfect. Many colors available and I went with the blue ones. Very cool. ![]() eBay Motors: 1967-68 Ford Mustang LED Gauge Light Conversion Kit TAC (item 190208719232 end time Jun-20-08 14:26:55 PDT) |
