What RPM Range are you going to drive this in? 1500-3500? or you going to go 3500-6500?
If you go with bigger heads than 351C 2v head you need to raise the RPM range up. Just have to keep in mind what is the main point of this car. Driving or Racing |

yeah maybe i can get a little more out of what i have first, this is all the info i could come up with, the stock specs should be right, but a lot of the sites i ran in to said different things so i dunno lol (thanks for the help btw!)
351 cleveland H Code (2 barrel motor) 8.6:1 4.00" X 3.50" 258/266 i think the rear end is 3.25 open diff. Edelbrock 600 P series 4 barrel carb dual point distributor the motor is stock except for the carb and dual point distributor

The first thing that to go fast is go with a 700/750 CFM Holly carb.
The Second thing be a New Cam. The Third is a Rebuild. New Heads will not solve your power woes. The carb is the quikest to get more now. Good Luck |

700 CFM might be overkill for 2V heads under 6500 RPM.
I assume you have the Performer intake to go with the carb. Get a cam-lifter-spring kit like Comp Cams 268H or 270H Then get headers & 2 1/2" dual exhaust |

yes i do have the matching 4v intake, made quite a difference!
and i probably wont upgrade the carb for awhile but when i rebuild the motor i wanna build a streetable beast, and the 2v heads are gonna go...i love the fact its a cleveland but i hate the fact its from 72 due to the power decrease, sooo pretty much anything stock/restrictive is gonna go

280/280 .512 Lift LC 110 9.5:1 And it is a Beast. If you just Upgraded the Cam ![]() This high torque cams work very well on the street. Made for use with engines having a 9:1 or less compression ratio. They can be used in conjunction with most stock components. If you want Performance a 600 Edelbrock Carb is not the way to go. Edelbrock Start good but do not performe good. The Holly 700/750 Will Make a Huge Difrance. Trust me. Those 2 Things will make a big difrance. |

If you get the 4V heads you want the closed chamber type.
The open chamber ones detonation problems at higher compression ratios. The stock Ford valve train is the weakest link in a Cleveland. Get them machined for 7/16 rocker studs & and hardened seats. Use roller rockers and stainless valves. 4V heads like a dual grind cam like Comp's XE274H. Any bigger than that and you will need a Torker (Strip Dominator) intake & 750cfm carb. In the interm, you can get 4V headers & they will work with the 2V heads. |
