Question

My 65's key wont turn.

Hey guys I need a little bit of help. I'm going nuts right now because when I put my key into the ignition it won't turn in my 65 mustang!!!!! I think it might have to do with the ignition switch but I wasn't sure if anyone else ran into this problem and they could help me out and tell me what they had to do. Yesterday I had trouble turning it and before that I had no problems at all. It seems kind of silly that it would be the switch because you would think it would wear down but I am not sure of anything. ANY HELP PLEASE!!!!!
(Don't make fun of me too bad )

When I helped my dad restore his '66 he had the same problem. Something screwy with the switch. Turns out that if he put the key all the way in it won't turn. If the then pulls it 1/8"-1/4" out it turns no problem. Try putting it in, w/ light pressure try to turn it and slowely pull it out a little.

If that doesn't work, replace the ignition.

mine does the same thing... pull it out slightly and it works. BTW the orginal keys dont require this, just the "newer" cut keys.

i have what i thought was orginal with the rectangle top with Ford printed on it but i did none of the restoration and bought the car from someone that did the full restoration and his spare key that he got cut at a store works perfect with no pulling out a little to start. Im not sure what the problem is but i do need to get some spares of the one that works perfect. Im kind of new to this since i just got the car last month how do u guys get those signatrues made?
