rear disk brakes and rear end

I just noticed a slow leak coming from the differential on my 69.

As I was planning to replace the rear drums with disk anyway, a friend had suggested that I transplant the entire rear end from a Cougar that came with disks already on it. As I don't know a thing about Cougars, I don't know how realistic of a suggestion this would be. Any thoughts? Better ideas? Would it be better/cheaper to rebuild what I have and get a disk swap kit instead?

you can use any Lincoln LSC or Tunderbird, Cougar or Mustang

You just have to do some work on it.
