wireing entire car

Im taking apart my 65 to get it ready for the body shop but i was wondering. Should i do all the wireing before i send it off or after? Or does it really make a difference.

Do it after or they will just have to cover them before painting. I used a "painless wiring" kit when I did mine..

the 1966 harness has the 5 gauges and the emergancy flashers, and if you have a 2 wire heater already there is not big change over. and to rewire entire car is about $700 for everything.

Painless wiring is miss leading. Should be called PAIN IN The A$$ wiring.
Since Mustangs have a really easy wiring set up and is cheap, there is NO need to use a Chevy color coded hot rod setup in a Mustang.
Also if you use a Painintheass wiring no one can work on the wiring behind you.
With the Ford Set up all the wire colors and the connectors are the same as in the service manual.

I think 300 is cheaper than 700.

Not true at all. If they have a 3 grade education and can read, EVERY wire is clearly labled. Anyone can work on them after its installed.

[QUOTE=With the Ford Set up all the wire colors and the connectors are the same as in the service manual.[/quote] If you use painless wireing you wont need a manual. Again every wire is clearly labled about every 12 inches.
When it comes down to it.

It is your choice. Are you trying to keep the car 100% origonal? Then go with the 43 year old wiring technoligy.

If you are not concerned about keeping the wiring stock. Then by all means go with modern tecnoligy & pick the Painless wiring kit. It has highey quality wire & insulation, it has clearly marked what each wire is & it has a larger updated fuse box with plenty of extra slots for adding accesories.

The 43 year wiring Works Great. Takes 1 hour to install everything complete.
It just plugs in. No need to make any connections up.
Painless? The Chevy wire coloring is a big downer.

The Resale value with the Ford wiring will be alot better, People wont think you went Cheap

$300 is still to much to pay for it.
