fastback paintjob
Hey guys, my plan has recently switched from my coupe buildup/restoration to buying a new fastback. The resto is still gonna happen because I'm not getting rid of my coupe, but I thought I should really invest in fastback while I have the funds to (cause the way prices get with these things it might be impossible to get in a few years), and with how long the resto would take I don't want to be without a stang for that long. So my question is- I've got a Wimbledon White paintjob on the fastback....with mint condition, original Ivy Gold interior (flat green), so my plan to give it some le mans blue stripes or get it navy blue with silver racing stripes....isn't gonna fly with the interior. I've always wanted a Bullitt, so I thought that could work great. From what I've seen, it does look sharp, and that interior matches it better than the normal black interior in my opinion. BUT I have 2 other variations to choose from, dark highland green (bullitt) with white racing stripes, or the reverse of that (white with green stripes). I think the green lemans is tacky, and even the white stripes don't look as professional or quietly-confident as that solid Bullitt green. Plus it's got a hipo 289 with a C4, so stripes look like it's got something to prove but the engine isn't as mean as the body makes it seem. Also, the green stripes are the cheapest route and most noticable, and I don't have too much of a budget after this. To simplify my question, I've got 3 choices:
1. Bullitt (dark highland) green 2. Bullitt green with white racing stripes 3. Keep the Wimbledon white and add Bullitt racing stripes *. Any other suggestions Here's some pictures of what it looks like now and the interior it's got. Thanks guys Last edited by USMCam; August 20th, 2008 at 06:00 AM. |

I guess you bought it from redline? I live not too far from there, and I think I've seen that car out there before. Good looking car.

That car is perfect the way it is man. Nothing I love more than an all original down to the paint old mustang. Exspecially the 67 fastback those look hot in Wimbledon white. Well every car looks good in that color
![]() I say keep it the way it is forever and just have fun driving it!

Yeah I could keep it stock, at least for a bit. It'd save money and like MustangOne said, give me time to naturally figure out what would fit best. It didn't even hit me until today, I'm about to own my dream of all dream cars, a type of car I wouldn't trade for a Ferrari F60 or a McLaren F1, and I'm trying to decide the paint. White's fine right now, any color wrapped around a fastback is fine in my book. I'm leaning towards solid green but you do make good points, I will definitely wait a bit to decide on it.

It looks great as it is, but if you decide to repaint it...
I'd go with the solid green Bullitt look. Not sure if it'll clash with the interior, though, so there might be more money to invest once you get it painted. But what do I know? I'm partial to blue

Yeah that's what I decided on, solid green when I do get it painted. The clashing is still a thought, even with green being the color I decided would fit best with interior. Blue's my favorite color too, and my dream paintjob is navy blue with silver le mans stripes, but of course that's not gonna fit on this. Thanks
