Directional Light Problem

67 Shelby, directional lights do not have a constant flashing pattern, they will flash fast and then slow and and fast again, i replaced the steering colunm harness and directional switch, and no change, the four way emergency lights work fine so i swapped the flashers with no change!
Any ideas??

There are two relays, one for the turn signals and one for the E-Flashers, the flashers work ok so i swapped the two and it made no differance, i am still going to change them both just to rule them out

The speed of the flash is related to the resistance in the circuit.
Like if a front bulb burns out they will flash more rapidly.
If the flash rate is changing I would suspect a wiring problem.
Check all bulb sockets & connections for corrosion or broken/cracked insulation.
Wires can get pinched or partially broken by moving objects in the trunk.

I assumed the 4 way flashers used the same circuit as the directionals and they work fine, am i correct that they do indeed share the same wiring?

sounds to me like you have a short somewhere, causing the resistance to drop which makes it flash faster.
