Door alignment and weatherstrip issues
Is it normal for aligned doors to be completely thrown off so that they don't even close properly after the weatherstrip is put in, or does that mean the weatherstrip is in wrong somehow?
Doors were lined up with no weatherstrip in them. Now that I put the weatherstrip in, I have to slam them hard to get them to latch at all, and even then, they don't shut properly. Something's obviously very wrong, but I don't know which to blame. Am I going to have to realign the doors after they're finished?

Sounds like it was the hard china weather striping,
not Danial Carpenter Weather striping. It is alot softer Like the ford stuff The label will say Danial Carpenter and have the 1979 running ponies logo. We got some of theat China crap once before and did the same thing your talking about, I will never buy anymore of that crap. It is cheap for a reason. |

Actually, the package does say "Daniel Carpenter". I ordered it from National Parts Depot. Part of the problem seems to be the upper rear section that screws into the door. It's about a 1/4" too small and prevents the strip from meeting the door where it should be glued in. The other problem in the bottom front corner I'm not too sure about yet. I may need to relocate the screw holes for mounting the other end.
