stereo system questions

Im about to oput 2 8in sub in the trunk with its own amp to power it. Also im innstalling 2 6x9 speakers in the rear deck and 6.5 inch componet speakers in the kick panals and a amp to power them. Im alittle worried that my alternator and batter wont be able to handle it. Im going to be puting a distrubution block to power the amps and a capacitor for the amp that is powering the subs. My alternator is new but i thought i would see what everyone thought. Im using this radio from johnsmustang so i can keep the stock look. http://johnsmustang.com/Catalog/4545/

Im not a car stereo expert so any information you can help me with would be great

This is also a question of mine.

I have 4 Boston Acoustic 6x8's and 2 Boston Acoustic 2" tweeters powered by a 450watt 4channel amp.

As well as 2 10" Memphis Subs powered by a 600 watt dual channel amp.

I used to have the boston acoustics with a 200 watt amp in my 96 Mustang so I knew that wasn't a problem.

But what size alternator should I use for this setup??

I also have a distribution block and inline fuse for this.

Im using these amps:
this one for the speakers
Kicker ZX350.4 4-channel car amplifier 60 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com

this one for the subs
Kenwood KAC-7203 2-channel car amplifier 170 watts RMS x 2 at Crutchfield.com

now the alternator im not sure what size it is. What size do i need to run all this? When my car comes back from paint, ill make sure its the size it needs

Ha.. were all just answering questions with questions of our own. Sorry for stealing your post bro. I'm going to compile a list of the questions..

What size alternator?
And what size battery?

Anything extra precautions we should take.

Its ok man. I think my alternator will hold up just fine but ill probably have to get a good battery because the one i have might not cut it. I still would like to know what upgraded alternator I could buy to make sure i didnt have any problems. The bigger the alternator the better i say.

if you're gonna go with 2x 8", you could just grab a self-powered 8" or 10" and save some money, space and probably power for that alternator/battery problem. I was looking at the same kind of setup a couple weeks ago but decided a lighter setup would fix the need for bass in the car. a dual-8" setup doesn't sound like you wanna shatter the windows anyway so a self-powered box would probably do just as well for you. I'm looking at a 10" MTX Thunderlink right now, you can find it at Crutchfield too- it's ugly but it should do the job.

why dont u just use that radio to run ur speakers and just get an amp for your subs? i dont see the need for 2 aftermarket amps, that radio shows specs of 200 watts, thats plenty to drive ur 6x9s and ur 6.5s, and less stress on ur alternator

when doing aux amps, you should go to 100 or 110 amp alt at least.extra amps from alt dont hurt anything.

like I said Im not a stereo expert so that's why I was askin. So just hook speakers up to radio and subs to amp. I'll see if that works but the place I bought it all from said that it will sound alot better with 2 amps and if it's not going to overload my alt and bat then I would like to go with both.

LOL no I'm taking one back anyway because it was all scratch so I'll just take that one back and keep the one for the subs
