Question about rebuilt tranny

I have just got finished restoring my mustang and I have a problem. I have had my engine and transmission all rebuilt. My car idles fine whenever it is in park or neutral but after I put it into any gear it puts a load on the engine and kills it. I have already tried to raise the idle speed and that has not worked. I was wondering if it was because I have a rebuilt tranny and it is not broke in. I would appreciate any help I could get.

Most likely a vacuum leak. Check all hoses and around intake & carb mounting.
What trans do you have? AOD & AOD/e need the TV pressure properly adjusted.
FMX & I think C4-C6 have vacuum controlled kickdown. Is it connected?
Is distributer vacuum advance working properly?
Do you have Vacuum assisted power brakes?

If all of what kobra suggested checks out is possible something got messed up in the rebuild and you have a bind-up issue (two gears applying at the same time) If it just won't idle but moves fine and only has a problem at idle disregard this.

Well thanks for all the input. I fixed the problem. I had to change my dwell and timing because somehow they got changed.
